Neil McMahon

Neil has had a passion for flying planes since he was young. After achieving his dream of becoming a Captain for CP Airlines and flying around the globe for 39 years, Neil decided to hang up his pilot's hat. Having grown Travel Masters Vancouver for five years, while still flying, it was time to concentrate fully on moving Travel Masters into the future. As Chief Excellence Officer, visionary and leader of the Travel Masters group, Neil is in charge of building and growing the group of Travel Masters agents and Support Team.

What made you want to own a travel agency?

It was 1997 when I was approached with the opportunity to open a Travel Masters franchise office in Vancouver. The concept was very different at the time, and it piqued my interest enough to explore the opportunity. Back then, the business model for travel agencies was quite different. Agents weren't getting a large piece of the pie and I wanted to be part of the change that would see travel agents recognized for the client base they had grown. Thus the concept for Travel Masters was born in Vancouver and the rest is history.

How does a Chief Excellence Officer keep his crew excellent?

I love to build things. I love to grow - both personally and professionally. Most importantly, I love to help people achieve their own personal levels of excellence. I believe that in order to get the best out of people, I need to provide them with the proper tools, respect, expertise and support. It's this philosophy that guides me in planning Travel Masters' future.

You have a reputation for a high level of integrity and honesty. Tell me more about that.

We honestly care about our talented group of agents and Support Team members, so I'm always asking myself how I can best give back to them. They are the ones who've helped make Travel Masters so successful. My passion to help people grow and learn is a major factor in how we deal with suppliers, customers, employees and agents alike.
